WINONA RIVERTOWN LIONS BOARD MEETING April 12, 2004

Roll Call:  

Secretary Report, Treasurer Report:  Sunset Lions really bucking the hearing screening equipment-do we have to donate more money?  

CORRESPONDENCE: Ronald McDonald Open House for new addition May 1 1-3; Red Wing Habitat for Humanity house for blind couple-want $6 per member; Italian Dinner May 21; Camp Winnebago Open House May 15

OLD BUSINESS:

--Soup Bowl March 9 Eagles:  Maureen G and Arlene N will wrap up hearing screening with  story and picture for paper

Raffle-Tickets will be printed for free; Tracy B CD player from Shopko; Julie M bond from Merchants

--Grand Excursion:  5000-10,000 people; need a tent; another queen's apple booth?

--Nominating Committee-Slate of Officers:  President Sandy L, 1st VP Arlene N, 2nd VP Tracy B, secretary Susan N, Treasurer Pat Q, Board Erica B and Judy B, Lion Tamer Diane Nolan, Tail Twister Gena Benson

--June Banquet:  Judy B, Susan N, Pat Q; Perkins June 28 social 6, DG speaker

NEW BUSINESS

-- School of Instruction:  Radisson, Rochester May 10 dinner 6:30, seminars 7:15-8:30

--BOARD AND REGULAR MEETING May 24

--Budget Meeting May 20 Athletic Club 5:30 (set up fund for speakers next year)

--Dorothy T volunteered to write thankyous for speakers, etc.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Bruce Reed's daughter asking or money (intl student to Spain), Hearing Dogs requesting  money

OLD BUSINESS:
--Raffle:  DVD player grand prize; want prizes in by mid May; money will be donated to Dan Corcoran House and Volunteer Services
--Grand Excursion:  next meeting
--Other:  Hearing screening-Hearing Foundation kicked in $8000 so we get better equipment (ARB machine)

NEW BUSINESS
--School of Instruction:  May 10 Radisson Rochester
--June Banquet:  Judy B, Susan N, Pat Q:  June 26 Perkins Social 6, Dinner 6:30, DG speaker
--Camp Winnebago:  May 15  Dedication new dining hall
--Budget:  Dues will raise to $73 next year (starting July 1)
--Other new business:  Garage sale or White elephant sale to offset dues raise
--Raffle:  Diane Nolan

Speaker Ann Junker.  Developed Grief Camp at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home--What's a Funeral For Anyway (STAR-Something To Always Remember).  Camp Amanda started three years ago to help children age 6-19 deal with death.  They use play.  It runs for a weekend-at the start they don't want to be there but by the end they don't want to go home.  No cost-sponsored by State Foundation of Funeral Home Directors.  They have an anger wall and a love wall.
