The Rivertown Lions Club is preparing to start a very
busy next year. Activities for the
next year include a jewelry party fundraiser hosted by
Julie Monson. All members are
encouraged to invite a friend, relative colleague or
neighbor as her guest to this event.
Julie presented details of this fundraiser at the August
meeting. Plans are also being
formulated for the annual White Cane Days Fundraiser
which is coordinated by Maureen
Gorman, and the fall Breadbowl Supper is planned for
October. A Zone Dinner is
scheduled for September and details and a signup sheet
will be available at the August
meeting. Autumn is indeed a busy time of year.
Along with all of the fundraising activity, I feel that
a service project should be planned
as well.
I urge all members to start thinking about a service
project that will benefit the Winona
area. A service project does not need to be costly
or consume many hours of time. It can
be simple and cost-effective, and still be a “helping
hands” type of activity. I look
forward to hearing any suggestions regarding this proposal.
Relax, renew and refresh during these wind-down days of
summer.
Arlene
