FROM BEHIND THE GAVEL
As I write I see students on their way to fall semester
classes and my thought is: how fast the summer went and how quickly time
flies. Autumn is my favorite season of the year. Spring may hold
more promise, but fall is more mellow with its warm days and cool nights.
Words of appreciation need to be mentioned for many Rivertown
Lions members.
Thank you to Tracy Braaten and Maureen Gorman for all
of their assistance and effort with the new constitution. Thanks to Tracy
for doing a quick trip to her office to copy the new version. A discussion
and vote on the new version will be held at the September meeting.
Also, a word of appreciation to Maureen for her assistance in contacting
a speaker for the August meeting and for providing some delicious treats
to enjoy as well. The presentation by Marie Kovcsi on her work with
visually challenged children was excellent. It was well put together, thought
provoking and very informative.
Also, a note of thanks to Louis Mack, who brought a guest
who may be interested in joining the club, and for his comments and expertise
on service projects. Thanks also to Mary Rennells who stepped up to plate
and helped with notifying the members on the change in the meeting location.
And, of course, thank you to all of the members who responded so well to
the last minute changes. KUDOS to all of you,
There will be a service project idea session at the September
meeting. As you probably know by now, I am not only interested in a service
project, but feel we should show our serving capabilities as Lions.
So, come with some ideas and we will listen. Tracy has a good speaker,
Gretchen Erwin, scheduled for this meeting, and the Fall Bread Bowl and
November Zone Meeting will be discussed..
Dorothy Tomten is the Joys and Concerns contact for the
group. If you know of any
items which would fit into this category, please contact
her.
In the meanwhile, enjoy the rest of summer
Arlene.
