FROM BEHIND THE GAVEL . . . .
Happy Thanksgiving! As we pause in our busy lives and heavy-duty
schedules to
celebrate a national day of thanksgiving, it’s important and necessary
to give thanks for
all we have not only today, but have enjoyed previously. We are
so blessed to live in a
country that provides not only daily sustenance, but also opportunities,
choices and
freedoms that many world citizens do not have. Personally, I am grateful
for all of the
Rivertown Lions members who have donated time, talents, work and dedication
to
enhance and promote the spirit of Lionism.
District Governor Al Fravert and his wife Randi, will be visiting the
club at the
November meeting. This is a “potluck” meeting or shall I say,
a specially-prepared
gourmet meal occasion that offers many dining choices. Feel free
to bring questions
and/or comments that you may have concerning the Lions organization
and have a
dialogue with the District Governor. From comments I have heard,
he is approachable
and enjoys discussion.
I share with you a quote from Anne Frank: “ I don’t know what your
destiny will be, but
one thing I do know, the only ones among you who will be really happy
are those who
have sought and found how to serve.”
