FROM BEHIND THE GAVEL
As I wind down my tenure as president of this organization, I pause
and reflect on what accomplishments the group has made, and some good things
have happened. The club had a great and well-received service project
when it sponsored the Project Compass Spring Fling in April. I spoke
with one of the Project Compass participants about the event and he was
so appreciative of the efforts. “You guys are the best”, he said
when I asked how he liked it. He also thought we were great dancers,
so-o-o perhaps the next stop would be as instructors at the Arthur Murray
Dance Studio, eh? It was indeed a good evening and thanks to all
the members who assisted with, donated to, danced at and participated in
this fun-filled and special event. Thank you to Ken Gorman
who shared his talents as pizza server exceptional.
Thank you also to every member who helped with the All City Lions Pancake
Breakfast. This effort will provide the Winona Public Library with
some needed equipment to help serve its visually-challenged clients.
Good work on that project as well.
New officers will be installed at the June Banquet and a report on
that project will be given at the May meeting.
I share with you a thought from one of my favorite figures and personalities
in American history:
“You get more joy out of the giving to
others, and should put a good deal of
thought into the happiness you are
able to give.”
