Diabetic Expo
Sandy
L. reported that committee met on 11/7 for a wrap up.Concerns listed included
parking spaces.
DG Jack said that more signs might have helped.
Except for parking issue, positive feedback for Expo.
Tracy
heard great things about the speakers. Suggestions
for next time:microphone system, street address in
paper,
create a support group for people with diabetes, a follow-up
note for those who test positive.. Next
Expo will be in 2008. Approximately twenty people
tested positive. Susan Roehl, one of the participants,
worte a thank you in the paper.
Distict Leadership Forum
Jullie, Deb, Pat, Diane,
and Maureen attended various sessions. Shared ideas. Gary Evans,
main
speaker, was very good.
Peace Poster
Tracy reported that the judging
went well. Bob A. has a request that each club pay for the first,
second,
third place winners and teacher to attend the midwinter
since it will be held in Winona. The Sunup club
does
not have much money and has requested help in paying
their share. Julie M. made motion to pay $40 for
our share and help Sunup, Jullie L. seconded. Discussion
was held on the motion. Motion was amened to
read, "Rivertown
Lions will pay $40 for our winners and teacher and $10
twoards the Sunup club's share." Motion passed
unaminously.
Zone Meeting
Good turn out for zone meeting
held in Winona. Tracy shared about the family unit for couples,
parent/child to received a discount on dues. Must
be in same club. Hearing dog monies will only go for
Minnesota now instead
of international since MN had not received any services.
Midwinter changed to $10 registration which
everyone pays and then pay seperately for meals.
Midwinter will be held at Riverport in Winona.
Ginny shared that the wreath for holiday of trees cost her
daughter-in-law $45. A check was given.
Wreath theme was winter sports.
New Business:
Christmas project
Erica, Diane, and Kathy
The committee decided to give $110 to the food shelf and then split
the
remaining $90 among themselves to buy presents for
needy families.
Christmas party
Pat, Deb, and Maureen
Party will be at Maureen's house, 60 Richmond Drive. It's in
Knopp Valley.
Come in valley, take left fork, first street past the
park turn right, second house on the right. Hors d'oeuvres
at
6 p.m., and dinner served at 6:30. Please bring
$10 to donate for the meal. Also bring about $5 to donate
to a cause and a regift. Should be fun.
Joint Meeting with all the Lions clubs in
Winona. January 11. Need to set up a committee since
it is
Rivertown Lions turn. Perhaps get Nancy Brown to
do an update on hearing screening. Also discuss
midwinter and
membership drive.
DG Jack Krage spoke. He said that ours is the 34th
clube which he has visited. All his club visits have
been interesting in that each has its own process
and flavor, but we are all dedicated to Lionism. He
encouraged us
to get on HBC or radio or write about our events so that
the public knows what we do. There is a
leadership forum in Menomen April 12-15th and still room
for someone to attend. District 5M1 is seeking
a person for the vice
district governor's job. He also shared his discovery
that he had diabetes
He encouraged attendance at midwinter. Also commented
on international in Chicago this summer. The
Cotter band will lead. This is quite an honor for
Winona and 5M1.
Next meeting will be the Christmas party, December 11th
at 6 p.m. at
Maureen's house.
Wear your name tag to all meetings
Dues are due. $72 per year. Make arrangements with the
treasurer.
