Highway 14 roundabout construction begins May 4 near Eyota
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, May 4 on the Highway 14/ Highway 42 roundabout near Eyota, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The $2.7 million project will build a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 42 near Eyota. The project will require detours while the project is underway. The prime project contractor is Rochester Sand and Gravel.
Highway 42 north of Eyota will be closed May 4 while crews replace a culvert on the road. The highway will be closed until the project is completed. Motorists north of Eyota can access the town and continue travel on Highway 42 by going east on Olmsted County Road 9 and south on Olmsted County Road 7, where it connects with Highway 14.
On May 11, Highway 14 will close. Motorists from the west traveling east should take Olmsted County Road 11 north to Olmsted County Road 9 east to Olmsted County Road 7 south. Motorists traveling west should take the route in reverse. The detour route to connect with Highway 42 will be marked. The highway will reopen when the project is completed.
The new roundabout is expected to be completed by July 3.
