Westbound I-90 lane closures planned Tuesday at Dresbach Bridge

Posted by HBC Newsdesk March 23, 2015

Westbound Interstate 90 motorists will encounter a lane closure in the Dresbach Bridge construction zone Tuesday, March 24, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Single lane traffic will only be for westbound motorists on I-90 as concrete is placed. The lane closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is designed for the safety of motorists and the workers. The closure starts at the east end of the project in Wisconsin and ends at the Minnesota side of the river bridge.

This $187.5 million project is a cooperative effort between the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation and will continue through 2016. The project includes constructing a new I-90 crossing over the Mississippi River and reconstructing Highway 61/14 and the I-90 interchange. With this project, MnDOT is working to enhance an efficient and effective transportation system.

The Traveler Information Center is closed until fall 2015 and the I-90 exit ramp from westbound I-90 to southbound Highway 61 will remain closed until 2016. Motorists who are westbound on I-90 and want to turn south on Highway 61 should follow the established detour.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For more information about the Dresbach Bridge project and detour, visit www.mndot.gov /dresbachbridge or www.facebook.com/DresbachBridge.
