Confirmation Class Starting
Confirmation Class Starting
This fall a confirmation class will be starting for students in grades
7-9. Four youth have expressed an interest and plan to attend.
Planning for the class is underway and information will follow soon for
class members. Classes will begin in late September. If you have
questions, contact either CLP Doug Rosendahl or Pastor Al Kleinsasser.
Discovery Club
A new club will be starting on Wednesdays this fall!! The tentative start date is Wednesday, September 28, 2005 , 5:00-5:30 p.m. family supper at church followed by Discovery Club from 5:30 - 6:50 p..m. Nursery care will be available, Discovery Club will be for children ages 4-11, possible confirmation class for grades 7-9, and an adult Bible study. Classes will be over in time for adult choir practice at 7:00 p..m.
Discovery Club includes: singing, Bible study and Bible award,
scripture memory, skit hit, skill award, and games. This program
is made for churches our size and should fit our needs well for a mid-week
activity.

Note: In the winter quarter the junior high (grades 6-8) and senior high (grades 9-12) will be in separate classes. Teachers have been found for winter quarter for those classes.
If you would like to teach or assist a teacher for a class, please contact Kathy Rosendahl at 687-4601. She will be happy to hear from you!!
CLERK'S CORNER
Jennifer MacAskill, Clerk of session
Highlights from the previous session meetings: We
received a $ 15,000 gift from an estate and are using it to
purchase handicap accessible doors and the rest will be put
into unrestricted funds; the next Presbytery meeting is
in Mauston on August 20th; the manse has been vacated,
is in the process of being cleaned and will be re-rented
as of September 1st;
Christiian Crossings will be part of our church service
on October 9th;
we regretfully accepted the resignation of Patrick O'Shea as
our choir director; the session retreat will be September 17th
at the Kohner boathouse, each committee is asked to come
up with three goals/objectives for discussion at the retreat;
please watch for upcoming events this fall, committees have
been busy this summer

Jazz Picnic in the Park
Grace Church, First Baptist and First Congregational Church will
join together in Worship, Music by Gate City Jazz, and a Potluck
Lunch on Sunday, August 7th, at the JayCee Pavilion in Lake
Park.
This annual event is an opportunity to Worship and socialize
with our neighbor church friends.
Bring a dish to pass and your eating utinsels (plates, knife/
fork/spoon) and of course, your appetite' Coffee and cold drink
provided.

CONCERNS
Darrin Graham had back surgery in Madison, Wl and is
now home recuperating. The tumor that was removed was
benign.
David Polachek was involved in an accident in July
that resulted in him having surgery to remove his spleen.
He also has some back injuries and several broken ribs. He is
now at home recuperating.
Circle I will not meet untill September
Circle II will meet Wednesday, August10th
at 1:30 PM
Corrine Noonan will be the hostes
Lesson 6 from "What she said" in the
Horizan Magazine in the study lession.
Visitors are welcome..

G-14.0205 Preparation for Office
When persons have been elected
to the office of elder or deacon,
the session shall confer with
them as to their willingness to
undertake the office. The min-
utes of session shall record the
completion of a period of study
and preparation, after which the
session shall examine them as
to their personal faith; knowledge
of the doctrine, government, and
discipline contained in the Con-
stitution of the church; and the
duties of the office. If the ex-
amination is approved, the ses-
sion shall appoint a day for the
service of ordination and instal-
lation. If the examination is not
approved for one or more elected
officers, the session shall report
its action to the congregation's
nominating committee, which
shall bring nomination(s) to a
special meeting of the congre-
gation for any olfice(s) not filled.
