Show us your steadfast love, 0 Lord, and grant us your salvation. Psalm 85:7
I have a high school classmate whose husband is dying from a brain tumor. I sent her an e-mail
last week expressing my concern for her and her husband. She e-mailed back explaining that
his brain tumor has taken its toll, even causing a stroke about six weeks ago which has left him
unable to walk and speak clearly. He has 24 hour hospice care but thankfully, she is able to
work from home.
I would like to quote to you her last paragraph she wrote: "Although this has been a horrendous
experience - it has made me even more aware of how blessed we are with the encouragement
and support of loving family and friends, God is good!"
I was very touched by her comments and wondered if I were under the same circumstances if I
would have the same attitude.  When things are going well it is easy to express how great God
is.........but when the road gets bumpy, it is harder for us to reflect on all the wonderful things
that God has done for us. Every day is a miracle. God loves us unconditionally!
August brings change to us here at Grace Presbyterian Church.
We at Grace have had the honor to work with Al the past 2 years and wish him well in his new
endeavors in Woodbury. He will be working quarter time at Woodbury Baptist Church with
their Christian Education program. We all know that Al is strong in CE and their church will be
fortunate to have him. Best Wishes to Al and Linda.
Grace looks forward to working with Jim Scaife and welcomes his family!
God is good!
Blessings,
Candi

Results of Offering for O.C.C.
An offering was taken on June 11, 2006 for the mission project, Operation Christmas Child.  The amount collected was $255.91.  This money will be used to fill shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, T-shirts, books and much more.  This is the world's largest international children's Christmas project.  It has brought the joy of Christmas to over 31 million boys and girls since 1993.  We will include an update after the boxes are filled in September.  Thank you for your generous support!!

SAVE THE DATE - TUESDAY, AUGUST 15
We will have special guests for a pot-luck supper at 5:30 pm.
Debbie and Del Braaksma, who currently serve as missionaries working with the Sudanese for the PCUSA and Reformed
Church in America, will be our guests and will give us first hand information about their experiences in Sudan.
Debbie grew up in the I" Presbyterian Church of Cambria, Wl and Del grew up in the 1st Reformed Church of
Friesland, Wl. They entered the mission service in 1986 and served among the Orma People of Kenya from 1987-1998.
Debbie and Del make frequent trips into South Sudan with their African colleagues where they conduct training
workshops in the areas of trauma awareness and healing, reconciliation, and civic education (including human rights,
democracy and good governance).
They work with RECONCILE, an organization that grew out of the need to create a "culture of Peace" in the war torn
country. TheyarethetrainingarmfortheNewSudanCouncilofChurches(NSCC). Oneofthe6membersoftheNSCCis
the Presbyterian Church of Sudan, which is a partner of the PCUSA.
Although the peace agreement was signed in January of 2005, Southern Sudan is still a very challenging place to do
ministry so the Braaksmas are based in Uganda where their children attend high school. Del is supervising the construction
of a training center in Yei South Sudan and they hope to move there some time in the next few years.
We hope you will save the date-August 15 -and plan to attend this special program. Other Presbyterian Churches'
in the area have been invited to join us. It should be an interesting program with first hand stories about life in a very
difficult part of the world.]
