82112 odometer on motor home sunny and getting worm Mel
mar Paul and lady price of gas 2.09 drove all day- the rest stops in Iowa
have a theme. the one at dows commerates Iowa,s part in the civil
war--they have dump stations and wireless Internet connections. Paul
drove thru kansas City. kind of busy. he did a good job. stayed
all night at Pomona State park in Vasser Kansas

sunny again. at mcdonalds drove all day. Paul drove thru
Oklahoma city. it was a good thing it was Saturday and not too busy.
I don’t like going Thu big cities. arrived at chrises about 8 pm.

overcast today. we’ve having a nice visit with the Jeff Rennells family
(Jeff- bonny- tiph-chris-matt-ashley-and the new baby tanner) ashley
and I have gone on many walks with lady. she is quite a talker and
has a great imagination. she is 5 going on 15. took pictures the blue bonnet.
4/18/2005
overcast again and cool. left for parts west. stopped to fill
our larder at walmart and best buy. drove all day and stayed at koa
north of carlesbad. it was very nice. had big sites all pull thru and lots
of space on both side. nice dog run. it was fenced and had grass plated
in it. The oil rigs were really pumping. the average price of gas
was $2.15 even payed $1.99 once . crossed into NEW MEXICO TODAY.
had strong winds all day. temperatures in the 80's. have a
new laptop computer and Mel and Paul used it in the evening. even
used the wireless feature to go on the Internet. lady and Mary went
on a long walk.
4/19/2005. 78 degrees still windy. I think the wind
blows contiuasly in new Mexico.
nice sunny day quite cool last night. paid $2.35 for gas.
saw it $2.55 a gal. stopped at souvenir store on hyway 40- route 66.
the hyway 285 from carsbad to I 40 was very boring. a fue towns just
desert and cattle grazing. did see some pronghorns. the
ranch houses are set way back and you would not know, much Traffic. they
were there except the driveways going to them
The temperature is still cool. We are now going thru Albuquerque at
3:30 Drove on old route 66. we stayed at redrock state park. it was
very windy and sandy. the wind blue the sand around like it was a blizzard.
it was also cold. the only difference was snow melts when you
go in the sand sticks with you. $15 for the nite

Sunny and cool and still windy. Ate Breakfast at Mcdonalds. tourist
attraction- painted desert and Petrified Forest.
Stayed all day there. Stayed at KOA Flagstaff AZ. The moon is
getting full. The temperature dropped below freezing 30 degrees. they we
having trouble with skunks with rabies so they we putting out meat with
anti rabies medicine in it There are odd looking squirrels here. they have
large pointed ears instead of the small ones. Stopped early and cooked
in the motor home gas $2.29 $34.13 for the nite.

sonny and cool at breakfast at Mcdonnalds. Started for the Grand
Cannon via a scenic road thru the Coconie National Forest.
There is still patches snow in the fores. Elevation 8046 ft.
Visited the grand canyon park. it was o busy now. Id hate to see it during
the syAte in the motorhome.
4/22/2005
A little cloudy today and a tad warmer. Ate Breakfast at McDonald.
went to the glen canyon dam. security was there. we couldn’t take any bags,
purses, or plastic bags into the visitor center. we had to go thru a medal
detector. Mel's pens in his
eye glass case set off the alarm. this time he didn’t have his steel
toed shoes on. drove thru the glen canyon national recreation area.
we are getting good use of Mel's golden age pass, I should get one
myself soon. I think Lady is getting tired of traveling. At Zion
National park we had to be escorted thru a mile long tunnel because we
were over 7 ft 10 in wide. we were able to drive down the middle
of the road because the traffic was stopped from the other way. stayed
the night at springdale Zion canyon campground $ 30.66 because
the camp grounds in the park were full.some of the camp sites even has
electricity which surprised me. we use the campground Internet wireless
to get on the web.

sunny and fue clouds. cool. ate breakfast at McDonald. during day saw pretty scenery. A lot of snow on the mountain tops. stayed at an RV park in Ogden Utah. had a little rain. $28.81 per nite. green fields and grass along the roadside. did laundry.

Cloudy and drizzly today. ate breakfast at McDonald. tourist stop today.
the golden spike national historical site at promontory point Utah Territory.
It rained off and on and we stayed at KOA in Rock Springs WY $26.75
per nite. rained in the evening and during the night. cool.
4/25/2005
Partly cloudy. the skies cleared as the morning processes. Breakfast
at McDonald. Bought supplies before we left Rock Springs. Destination today
Buffalo Wyoming. discovered a stop along hyway 220 (which follow
the Oregon trail California and Mormon trail) Devils gate and martins cove.
we had a little rain and the wind kept getting stronger, probably ABOUT
40 MPH
the sun did shine though. Koa at Buffalo WY $26.82 for the nite.

Sunny with clouds in the sky. still windy from NW but we are now heading
east so the wind is
at our backs. breakfast at McDonald again. gas went up $0.10 per gal
while we were eating
as we get closer to Gellet WY we drove into a freak snow storm. we
drove out of it in 50 miles stayed at Arrow Campground Wall SD
$21.60 for the nite. it was a nice local campground. it wasn’t a KOA but
the bathrooms clean and the showers were hot. they probably had just opened
for the season. ate supper in the motor home.

Cloudy and cool this morning and it stated to rain before we left town. had pancakes in the motor home. wall SD is the home of Wall Drugs so we just had to see it. it had just about anything a person would want. as we started Thu the badlands nat park it started to snow. I saw a mule deer.we found the Minute Man missile silo site national park near wall sd and this park is just starting. we stayed at oasis campground chamberland sd $21.50 late registration

Sunny A fue Wispy clouds and still cool. at breakfast at McDonalds in Chamberland. the rest area outside of Chamberland had a Lewis and clark museum connected with it was closed for the season. what a disappointment!. Drove past the corn palace in Mitchell MN it was 12 noon. it started to cloud over. maybe it will rain again. Continued on into Minnesota and camped at Camden State Park $19 for the nite. on top of the toilet #40 The water was not turned on because they were afraid of freezing. No rain Lady and I walked and Walked again. No state parks have a program to reclaim the natural state of the prairie Still Cool

Nice Sunny cool morning. Lady through up 5 AM so she and I got up and
walked. We saw a nice sunrise and the moon was still up. it is just a bit
over half. at breakfast in the motor home. we are taking hyway US 14 home
12 noon it starting to cloud over just like yesterday. we arrived home
in Winona at 2 PM. we unloaded the motorhome and paul drove it off
to Prairie island campground where we have rented a site for the summer.
odometer 86465 miles----44150 mile traveled -- $1380 gas-- 667
Gal of Gas--average gas milage 6.6 MPG
