Storm Lake & stayed at the Sunrise Campground, and visited the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Factory,
and sites in Sioux City, IA, on Tuesday.  They threw two fan belts on the motorhome in Sioux City so they
spent two hours at an information center getting it repaired.

Tuesday night they stayed at N Sioux City SD K0A .
The next morning they drove back to Storm Lake to Sunrise Campground & met  with Jeff & his family
until Friday, July 17.

Paul  & Sara left Winona on  Thursday morning and drove to Storm Lake to complete the reunion.

The mel fixed the fan belt problem on the motor home but now a squeal he believes from the alternator.

Morgan Hoof is graduating May 25th in Cut bank Mt

Paul & Sara bought a house in April.
I guess that's about all that's new here.  Carol & Todd are just doing what new parents do.
Go to work & raise their  daughter.

Mary has just retired and as of Jan 2 she is now babysitting Savannah Bell, her new Ganddaughter every wed- thursday and Friday
the daily living is changed  no going to work and the schedule is wide open
We have two dogs Lady, the one we had ,and Lexie the one Carol loaned to us because she didnot trust him with the new baby
It's been a while since I've communitated with you, so I thought I'd
better get you caught up on what's been going on at the Rennells' house.

Mary  officially retired from the Winona Clinic on December 31, 2007.  On
January 1, 2008, the Winona Clinic merged with hospital , so it is now part
of Winona Health.  She has a new  job now, taking care of Savannah three
days a week, Wednesday - Friday.  It's really nice to be able to be a part
of her life and watch her grow week by week.  Savannah is going to be
baptized on Sunday, March 2, at the Presbyterian church in Winona at
10:30 A. M.  Todd's Grandma is having a lunch at her house after church.
Any of you are invited to come to both if you want to.

I will be glad when this cold weather & snow are over.  I'm glad we didn't
get the snow the rest of you got.  I guess we must live in the banana belt
of southeastern Minnesota.

Paul & Sara think they want to buy a house.  No, they are not married.  As
you can guess, we are not very happy about it!  We are trying to talk them
out of it, but it's like talking to the wind.

We got our bathroom wall around the tub fixed.  It was begining to rot out,
so it was a necessary  (and costly) repair.

.

Paul was wondering when the annual Boscobel trip might be.  I guess he looks forward to that trip in Oct.  They are back together again, but Paul left his mailing address here.

Yes, I did go to part time working up to retiring after the first of the year.  I signed up for Medicare on my birthday, since I'll be losing my insurance at the clinic after August & we can't get supplemental insurance unless we're on medicare.  I really wasn't planning on going part time quite so soon, but the clinic has lost so many Dr. that they were laying people off in all departments.  Since I was planning on working fewer hours anyway, they asked if I would go on part time now.  I probably would have waited a few more months.  I have worked my part time schedule for one week now, but it really isn't too much less than my full time.  week 1- 3 1/2 days, week 2- 3 1/2 days, week 3 - 4 days, week 4 - 4 1/2 days.  It will probably be about 3 1/2 days after everyone is through taking vacation.

did camping. Mary was surprised  to see Cameron  and  Sheila and  Kayla Earp (Nathans son)buying Apples. Mel brought his canoe and  Paul and Sara paddle up the Kickapoo River. Mel then put his new 3.5 HP motor
on the canoe and motored up the Kickapoo several miles.

We are planning the annual pilgrimege to Boscobel WI Oct 8 to visit with Steve. then we plan to go back October 15-16 with the motor home to tour the Apple orchards and stay at Gays Mills WI Campground.

Sept 26 5 pm  mel,s canoe with his new 3 HP out board $ 714 just purchased last Fri.. was dumped and sunk by a passing pleasure boat at hi
speed  1 mile down stream in the main channel of the Mississippi river. he swam to shore and walked a mile to his car. Lost was the Honda generator (inherited from Dad) an electric trolling motor. now the DNR says I must get it "out of there". I am trying to get a fisherman with a sonar to find it and then dig it out. Wed Morning Greg Marsolic of the dive and rescue squad spent 1 ½ hours scanning the river near the sinking in the rain with me, Greg Olson and him.we believe it would wash down river as the bottom was clean due to the constant passing of barges. he said his dive team might use it as practice later. thursday sept 29 the game warden called and told me they had found my canoe. the the canoe had a dent in it and the keel was not straight but the 3 hp outboard was still attached. now if i can get the outboard to start after being waterlogged. I did start the outboard and did go for a spin with the canoe and the motor.

my new car a 1989 dodge caravan cost me $ 700 to buy and i then paid $ 600 to rebuild the front wheels. now i have replace a rear wheel bearing.  now the fuel pump located in the gas tank is so noisy it drives me nuts so I drove the car 300 plus miles to empty the tank and today it goes into the car hospital to remove the gas tank and replace the fuel pump. the old 1987 gmc Conversion van has lost the timing chain and will be junked.

Paul is camping at whitewater state park every weekend. the water system is full of antifreeze so you cannot  use the water or the toilet, but there is a portapotty there and he has satellite TV, Electricity and bottle gas for heat.

We've had a lot of things going on lately.  Mel is getting ready to get the valve replaced/repaired in his heart that has been defective for 2 or 3 years.  He has it checked every 8 - 12 months and now the doctors say it is time to operate.  He has been having a lot of preliminary testing done  echocardiogram, heart cath, ecocardiogram via his esophogus, & getting his teeth checked for infection.  He has to have some teeth pulled (to clean up some infection) which means some bridge work.  After all this is done, he can have his valve work done.

Melvin has been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and is being regulated. The doctor has recommended that he have his mitral valve in his heart replaced. he has known it was leaking for 3 years and it is getting worse. After checking it was found mel's arteries are clear and the heart is still good, he just must have his valve replaced before the heart degenerates. This will probably happen in January 2002
