IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIMS

If you have been a victim of Domestic Abuse, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance from the Minnesota Crime Victims Reparations Board. For more information, you can call 1-888-622-8799 or come in to the SMRLS office in Winona. Our office has information regarding the program and forms that you can fill out with or without our assistance.

Expenses that may be covered include:

Medical costs including ambulance or other transportation, hospital, physician, dental work, and prescriptions.

Mental health costs directly related to the crime including psychological counseling and transportation.

Lost wages due to a disabling physical or psychological injury that resulted directly from the crime.

Loss of support for dependents of a deceased victim to replace the victim's financial contribution to the family.

Some child care or reasonable household services to replace services that were normally provided by the victim prior to the crime.

Transportation costs, meals and lodging related to the return of an abducted child.

Funeral expenses up to $6,000.

Note: There are rate limits and caps on most of the above expenses.
