Mission

We gather together

We are a group of students, ministers, and local church communities, who join together as active partners in ministry with and for the students of Winona State University. We strive to be welcoming, inclusive, and ecumenical in our ministry.

to respond to the awesome presence of God

We celebrate God’s presence in our lives and respond both individually and in community with unique and creative expressions of:

Faith, Hope & Love

Gratitude, Prayer & Reverence

Food for Body, Soul & Spirit

Joyful Celebrations of Life

Just & Conscious Care for one another and for our world

Praise & Worship

Reflection and Study

and to nurture the spiritual life of students

Within each of us is a spiritual life uniting us with our Source. Our yearning for God is an invitation to nurture the growth of our spiritual life. God calls us to spiritual growth by following the way of LOVE, given to us by Christ as a model for living in the world today.

Our spiritual growth is also nurtured by a diversity of faith traditions, by stories

of our common human journey, and by the experiences of our lives.

through open and caring relationships.

We believe God placed us on earth

to learn how to LOVE one another.

We will grow in LOVE through the development

and deepening of our relationships with God,

with one another, and with our inner selves.

Our relationships will blossom more fully

when we share mutual respect and care for all people

and for all of God’s creation.

Student Activities

Friends in Christ

Small faith sharing groups committed to living a life in Christ with a threefold covenantal commitment to “act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).”  Students will gather together to reflect upon and create their commitments in groups of 5 or 6 students.  Each small group meets on a weekly basis to support and hold each other accountable to the faith commitments of their hearts.  Students will choose times for group meetings that work best with their schedules.  Campus minister, Jean Lauer, helps you to find a place for your group to meet and resources for prayer or study as you need them. Call or email Jean Lauer for further info.

Koinonia Music Ministry
Koinonia is a worship-leading ministry.  We sing and tell stories, read and reflect on Scripture, and create skits to prepare a worship service that we bring to various area churches, and sometimes, to students’ home churches.  In fall, we choose music, get to know each other better, plan our skits,  go on a weekend retreat, and become a circle of friends who share our blessings and our challenges together every week.  Regular Koinonia group meetings every Sunday evening from 5:30–6:45 PM at TAGGART LOUNGE in the basement of the UCM house at 362 Johnson Street.  Please call for directions if you aren’t sure where we are!

KOINONIA RETREAT – November 8-10 at Village Creek Bible Camp.  Koinonia goes on an annual retreat.  The theme for this year’s retreat is “Thirsting for God.”

If you would like to join KOINONIA and get in on the fun, please call or email Jean or come to our Sunday night meetings at Taggart Lounge.

Student Worship  with LCC

Every Sunday evening at 7 PM, UCM invites students to join with Lutheran Campus Center for shared worship services at the Lutheran Campus Center, 451 Huff St.

UCM ACTIVITIES Team

Monthly leadership meeting for envisioning, planning and supporting campus ministry activities for students.  New students are encouraged to consider making a difference in a ministry where growth is guided by students.

(Time of ongoing meeting is determined by students).
