Standard Parental Controls Instructions:

Enabling Parental Controls
You can set up parental controls to block certain TV shows, movies and PPV (Pay-Per-View) purchases based on their ratings and content.

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls from the main menu. (Fig. 1)
  2. Enter your Locks PIN or create a new 4-digit PIN to access the Parental Controls screen (default password is 1234). (Fig. 2)
  3. Change the settings as needed and press the EXIT button on the remote to save your changes and exit from the Parental Controls screen.

Parental Control Options

Movie Rating
This will block all movies rated at a particular level or higher. (Fig. 3)

  • G – General audiences
  • PG – Parental guidance suggested
  • PG-13 – Parents strongly cautioned
  • R – Restricted
  • NC-17 – No one 17 and under
  • Adult – Adult audiences only

TV Rating
This will block all TV programs rated at a particular level or higher. (Fig. 4)

  • TV Y – For all children
  • TV Y7 – For older children
  • TV G – For general audiences
  • TV PG – Parental guidance suggested
  • TV 14 – Parents strongly cautioned
  • TV MA – For mature audiences only

Content Rating
Select the TV content rating you want to be blocked. (Fig. 5)

  • Violence
  • Sexual Situations
  • Language
  •  Suggestive Dialogue

Disabling Parental Controls

To Temporarily or Permanently Disable Parental Controls

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls from the main menu.
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN to access the Parental Controls screen.
  3. Select Master Locks in the Parental Controls screen.
  4. There are two options for disabling parental controls:
    • To temporarily disable parental controls, select the Bypass Locks option and press the right arrow button on your remote and select Bypass all locks to confirm your choice. (Fig. 6)
    • To permanently remove the parental controls, select the Remove all locks option and press the right arrow button on your remote and select Remove all locks to confirm your choice. (Fig. 7)

To Manually Re-Enable Parental Controls

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls from the main menu.
  2. Enter your 4-digit PIN to access the Parental Controls screen.
  3. Select Master Locks in the Parental Controls screen.
  4. To re-enable parental controls, select the Bypass Locks option and press the right arrow button on your remote and change option to No to confirm your choice.

Enable a PIN Number for PPV Purchases

  1. Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls from the main menu.
  2. Enter your 4-digit Locks PIN to access the Parental Controls screen.
  3. Select PINs Setup in the Parental Controls screen. (Fig. 8)
  4. Select the Enter new Purchase PIN option and enter a 4-digit PIN number that will be required when purchasing a PPV event. (Fig. 9)
    Confirm the new PIN when prompted.

Parental Control Options

Movie Rating Locks
This will block all movies rated at a particular level or higher. (Fig. 10)

TV Rating Locks
This will block all TV programs rated at a particular level or higher.

TV Content Locks
This will block all TV programs based on content: Violence, Language, Sexual Situations and Suggestive Dialog.

Channel Locks
This will block individual channels regardless of the ratings or content of the programs.

Title Locks
This will block certain programs based on the title.

Service Locks
This option is unavailable at this time.

Hide Titles
This will hide titles of TV programs rated Adult or TV-MA.

Master Locks
This allows you to temporarily bypass or remove your parental control settings.

PINs Setup
This allows you to change your PIN. (Fig. 11).
