Chiefs fall to Rochester
Zach Benson scattered six hits over six and two-thirds innings, but two of them scored four runs as the Winona Chiefs amateur baseball team continued its home struggles with a 4-3 loss to Rochester in Twin Rivers League action on Friday at Gabrych Park.
Benson struck out nine on the night, but allowed two-run singles to James Fregeen in the fifth and Adam Peterson in the seventh, the latter putting the Roadrunners ahead to stay.
Winona plated single runs in the third, fifth and sixth on a Benson sacrifice fly, Owen Burnikel double and a David Dahlstrom balk, respectively.
Zach Nelson finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored, Travis Hengel 2-for-4 with a walk, Lance Jensen 2-for-3 with two walks and Burnikel 2-for-4 with a walk.
