High School Hoops: Cold stretch costs Winhawks boys

P.J. Appicelli scored a game-high 26 points, but the Winona Senior High School boys basketball team went cold for a nearly ten-minute stretch late in the second half in a 64-56 loss to Austin on Tuesday.

Without the services of point guard Trey Bechly, WSHS (5-12, 3-10 Big Nine) took a 43-42 lead with 10:45 to go in the second, but did not register a single field goal over the next nine minutes and 35 seconds as Austin (8-9, 7-6) put the game away.

Both Gach led the Packers with 12 points, while Levi Vierkandt had 11 and Kyle Oberbroeckling finished with nine.
