Balanced offense leads to fourth straight win for Cardinals women

Six players scored in double figures as the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team defeated St. Catherine 80-70 at SMU Gym on Wednesday.

SMU (12-4, 6-3 MIAC) took a 41-30 lead into halftime, but held on despite being outscored 40-39 in the second half.

Molly O’Toole led the Cardinals with 19 points, Micaela Meredith added 16, Octavia Brown had 12, followed by Emma Schaefer’s 11 and both Shelby Auseth and Sara Schoenthaler each pitched in 10.

St. Catherine (7-9, 2-7) got 56 of its 70 points from three players — LaShay Holt registered a game-high 27, Mari Lee had 18 and Shauna Horsch accounted for 11.
