Richert outduels Sandcork as Mabel-Canton snaps losing skid
Wesley Richert nailed eight 3-pointers and scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Mabel-Canton boys basketball team past Hope Lutheran 62-53 on Monday.
Richert had nine points at the half for Mabel-Canton (8-10, 6-8 Southeast), but went off for 23 in the second half to help the Cougars snap a three-game losing streak. Wayne Ross added 14 points while Dustin Kerns and Keyser Wenthold each pulled down eight rebounds.
Josiah Sandcork paced Hope Lutheran (3-17, 2-11) with 26 points, 18 of which came in the second half. Sandcork was one of just three Hope players to score, followed by Andrew Fratzke with 14 and Hayden Meinke’s 11. Sandcork added 10 rebounds for a double-double, and Fratzke hauled in eight to go along with eight blocks.
