Tews’ big night not enough for Hope girls

Megan Tews scored a game-high 22 points but it wasn’t quite enough as the Hope Lutheran girls basketball team fell to Mabel-Canton 44-38 on Monday.

Courtney Graves led Mabel-Canton (7-12, 7-7 Southeast) with 16 points and added five rebounds, while Coranda Vickerman added 11 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Hope (5-15, 2-10) was carried by Tews offensively, with only Catie Stoltman scoring as many as five, but the Patriots did a good job on the boards, matching the Cougars with 28.

Stoltman ended up with seven and Tews had six while Alex Ludford and Julia O’Laughlin each had four. Josie O’Laughlin did a fantastic job off the bench on the defensive end, disrupting M-C’s offense, and corralled three rebounds along the way.
