Brown’s career day leads SMU women past Concordia in OT
Octavia Brown scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team past Concordia College in a 79-73 overtime win at SMU Gym on Saturday.
Saint Mary’s (15-6, 9-5 MIAC) came into the game tied with Concordia (12-9, 8-6) for third in the conference, and though they led by 11 at one point in the second half, an Olivia Johnson 3-pointer tied the game at 63-63 with 10 seconds to go in regulation.
In overtime, the Cardinals outscored the Cobbers 16-10 on the strength of 12 made free throws to put the game away.
Sam Jones and Alexa Huisman also scored career-bests with 16 and 12 points, respectively, while Sara Schoenthaler contributed 12 including 10 in the first half.
Johnson led Concordia with 21 points.
