Garnter, Haug too much for Hope girls

Hope Lutheran PatriotsBailey Gartner scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Lanesboro girls basketball team to a 40-32 victory over Hope Lutheran on Monday.

The Burros took a slim, 22-20 lead into the halftime locker room, but Hope Lutheran struggled from the floor and the free throw line in the second half and couldn’t pull closer than six points late in the game.

Oliva Haug added 11 points and a game-best 14 rebounds to lead Lanesboro (11-12, 10-7 Southeast) to its third consecutive win.

For Hope (6-18, 3-13), Alex Ludford led the way with nine points and added five rebounds before fouling out. Laura Ellinghuysen had eight while Megan Tews added six, and both pulled down four rebounds. Catie Stoltman led the Patriots, which have lost five in a row, with nine rebounds.
