High School Hoops: P-E-M handles Cotter girls

On the strength of nine made 3-pointers, the Plainview-Elgin-Millville girls basketball team trounced Cotter 67-39 at the Gostomski Family Gymnasium on Monday.

P-E-M (19-4, 14-2 Three Rivers), the #2 team in Section 1AA East, jumped out in front early and led 44-23 at halftime and never looked back to extend its winning streak to six games. Karlie Gilbeck led the Bulldogs with a game-high 24 points.

Kirsten Weifenbach led Cotter (12-11, 8-7) with 10 points, while Gabby Bowlin, who was coming off of a 35-point performance against Rushford-Peterson on February 13, was held to just nine.

Due to technical difficulties, HBC Sports was unable to broadcast the game live, but will be re-broadcasting on Thursday night at 7 p.m. only on TV 25.
