SMU women secure 4th straight playoff spot
Octavia Brown recorded her first collegiate double-double to lead the Saint Mary’s University women’s basketball team past Carleton 64-56 at Saint Mary’s Gym on Wednesday, and into the MIAC playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.
After shooting just 36.1 percent from the floor over their past two losses, the Cardinals hit 44 percent of their field goals, as well as 9-for-12 from the free throw line to get back into the win column.
Brown went for 12 points and a career-best 10 rebounds, while Emma Schaefer added 12 points for SMU (16-8, 10-7 MIAC), which remains tied for fourth in the conference with Concordia.
Michele Arima led Carleton (8-16, 6-11) with 14 points and Skyler Tsutsui finished with 11.
