P-E-M girls snap Dover-Eyota’s 23-game winning streak
The Class AA fourth-ranked Plainview-Elgin-Millville girls basketball team overcame a three-point halftime deficit to end No. 1 Dover-Eyota’s 23-game winning streak with a 56-51 victory on Friday.
Sarah Hart led P-E-M (20-4, 14-2 Three Rivers) with 19 points and Karlie Gilbeck finished with 14 as the Bulldogs won for the seventh consecutive game.
Megan Hintz had 19 while Madison Nelson added 18 for Dover-Eyota (24-2, 17-1), which lost for the first time since November 29 when they fell to Kasson-Mantorville 61-49 in the Dover-Eyota tournament.
With the win, P-E-M avoided the season sweep after a 71-48 loss to D-E on January 27.
The Bulldogs and Eagles are in different Section 1AA subsections, and would only square off again in the section final.
