On-deck: Chiefs host Wanamingo

The Winona Chiefs amateur baseball team looks to keep their record unblemished as they host the Wanamingo Jacks at Gabrych Park on Wednesday.

Winona (2-0) is off to a strong start with the sticks, with five players batting at least .429, led by John DeMarais’ .600 mark.

While DeMarais paces the club for average, on-base percentage (.625), slugging (1.200), walks (2) and stolen bases (1), Zach Benson leads the team for RBI (5) and sports a scintillating .750 batting average on balls in play.

Lee Trocinski and Jesse Van Brunt have both turned in solid starts through the first two games, but the Chiefs have allowed 13 free passes over 18 innings despite a 1.50 team ERA.

Tune in for the Chiefs and Wamaningo in Twin Rivers League action live from Gabrych Park beginning at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday only on TV 25!
