Blattner, Saint Mary’s women move to 8-0

Brandi Blattner scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team to a 85-47 win over Carleton in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Saint Mary’s Gym on Wednesday.

SMU (8-0, 4-0) scored 35 of the game’s first 42 points, which included a 20-0 run at one point and cruised to victory.

The Cardinals shot 52 percent from the floor (35-for-67), five of which came from beyond the arc.

Blattner scored 14 in the first half to lead Saint Mary’s, while Alexa Huisman poured in a career-best 14, while Bridget Pethke and Haley Trom both accounted for nine. Pethke added eight assists for SMU.

Maya Okamota scored 11 to lead Carleton (3-7, 0-4) and Cece Leone collected seven rebounds.
