Power play goals sink Winhawks

It was scoreless after one period, but the Rochester Century boys hockey team netted three goals on the man-advantage in the second en route to a 7-0 victory over Winona Senior High School at Bud King Ice Arena on Thursday.

The two teams played neck-and-neck into the first intermission, but less than one minute into the middle stanza, Century (4-4, 2-3 Big Nine) lit the lamp on its first power play tally of the night when Eric St. Marie slid one past Winona (0-6, 0-5) goaltender Matt Schoh.

It would be the first of three special teams goals for the Panthers in second. Will Zmolek and Ryan Maiers added power play scores which secured the win.

The Winhawks were outshot 32-11, have now been shutout in each of their last three contests, and outscored 23-0 in the process.

Schoh made 25 saves for WSHS.
