On-deck: Winona State basketball doubleheaders on Saturday & Sunday

The Winona State basketball teams return to the floor for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday against Northern State and Minnesota State Moorhead at McCown Gymnasium on HBC.

The No. 9 WSU women (13-0, 6-0 NSIC) look to continue their program-record winning streak with a team that is dominating the conference.

The Warriors lead the league in scoring offense (80.2 points per game), scoring defense (51.8), scoring margin (+28.4), free throw percentage (84.7), field goal percentage (48.8), defensive field goal percentage (32.8), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5) and rank second for 3-point field goal percentage at 43.9 (100-for-228).

Tara Roelofs has scored in double figures in all but one game this season, is coming off of a career-high 29 points against Minnesota State on December 12 and leads Winona State in scoring with 16.3 points per game.

Roelofs is one of four Warriors averaging 10 or more points, followed by Alexis Foley (13.1), Kayla Timmerman (11.5) and Connor Nagle (10.3).

Timmerman paces WSU at 6.5 rebounds per game, while Hannah McGlone pulls down 5.5 for Scott Ballard’s squad.

Winona State will face Northern State (8-3, 4-2) with pregame beginning at 3:45 on Saturday, and Minnesota State Moorhead (7-2, 4-2) at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The WSU men (5-5, 4-2) have won four of their last five and sport a perfect 4-0 record at McCown Gymnasium.

Kyle Bauman is having a fantastic season for the Warriors, leading the team with 15.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Bauman has also lit it up from beyond the arc, connecting on 70.6 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts (12-for-17) on the year.

In fact, Bauman has teamed with Riley Bambenek (23-for-55) and Josh Mongan (12-for-27) to shoot 47.4 percent from long range.

Bambenek (2.6) and Mongan (2.9) combine for 5.5 assists per game, while Mark Blacklock goes for 9.6 points and five rebounds per contest.

Winona State will face Northern State (6-6, 2-4) on Saturday at 6, then Minnesota State Moorhead on Sunday at 4 p.m., only on TV 25!
