Warriors women dominate Augustana

All five starters scored in double figures as the No. 14 Winona State women’s basketball team routed Augustana 73-47 at McCown Gymnasium on Friday.

Tara Roelofs led all scorers with 16 points, while Alexis Foley and Connor Nagle each notched 14 and Hannah McGlone and Kayla Timmerman each contributed double-doubles.

McGlone finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Timmerman ended up with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with four blocks.

Nagle contributed a four-point play in a first half that featured a 30-2 WSU (18-2, 11-2 NSIC) run that had the Warriors up 36-6 with 7:07 remaining in the first half, and Winona State never looked back, as they took a 43-20 lead into halftime.

The domination continued in the second half, where the Warriors’ largest lead was 32 points.

WSU held Augustana (14-5, 8-5) to just 23 percent shooting in the opening half (8-for-35) and 26 percent for the game.
