High School Hoops: Hintz, Nelson lead D-E girls over St. Charles

Just three days removed from its first Three Rivers Conference loss of the season on High School Hoops, the Dover-Eyota girls basketball team rebounded to defeat St. Charles 57-44 on Friday.

Madison Nelson and Megan Hintz almost matched St. Charles’ offensive output with 43 combined points, as Hintz notched a game-high 22 while Nelson finished with 21. Haley Finstuen added eight points for the Eagles.

D-E (15-4, 11-1) held the Saints’ leading scorer Carolyn Shanahan to just seven points.

Katelyn Ihrke paced St. Charles (14-5, 8-5) with 15 points on the strength of three 3-pointers, and Jenna Ihrke pitched in nine, all on field goals from beyond the arc.

With the victory, the Eagles swept the season series.
