High School Hoops: P-E-M girls win Three Rivers West

Behind twenty-two points from Sarah Hart, the Plainview-Elgin-Millville girls basketball team accomplished four things with a 66-49 victory over Dover-Eyota on Friday.

The Bulldogs swept the season series from the Eagles, won their 16th game in a row, finished conference play with an unblemished 18-0 record and won the Three Rivers Conference West title.

Not bad for a night’s work.

Hart had 13 points at the half, only 10 fewer than the D-E team as P-E-M (24-1, 18-0) took a 29-23 lead into the locker room.

20 of Dover-Eyota’s (20-6, 16-2) 23 points were scored by Megan Hintz (11) and Madison Nelson (9).

However, two quick fouls to open the second half had Hintz on the bench with four personals, and the Bulldogs took full advantage, building a six-point lead at the break into a 17-point win.

Hintz would foul out with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Emmaline Polson finished with 11 points for P-E-M, while Hayley Dessner had nine to go along with six rebounds. Tessa Hubbard and Baighley Standinger notched eight and seven points, respectively.

Madison Nelson led the Eagles with 17 points, nine of which came from the free throw line. D-E struggled from the stripe, converting just 18 of 30 for the contest.

Ashlee Olson contributed seven points and Gracie Gellersen knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for six. Madison Field accounted for all of D-E’s bench scoring with two.

Dover-Eyota finished 16-2 in league play for the regular season, with both losses to P-E-M.
