Winhawk 9 fall in Section 1AAA Tournament

The Winona Winhawk baseball team’s season ended over the weekend with a 1-nothing loss to Albert Lea in the MSHSL Section 1-AAA playoffs at Aces Park at Athletic Field. It was the 13th one run game the Winhawks have played this year.

Winona’s Austin Lenhardt gave up just five hits, struck out three  and allowed one earned run over six innings of work in the loss. Winona managed just a pair of hits off Albert Lea pitcher senior Jakob Kilby.

The Winhawks’ two hits came in the fourth inning. With one out, Lenhardt slapped a one-out single to center field. Lenhardt was then replaced with courtesy runner Dylan Gordon. The next batter, junior Joe Brinkman, hit a double to right. Gordon attempted to score on the play and was thrown out at the plate.  Dylan Banicki lined out to first for the final out of the inning. The only other Winona batter to reach base was Brinkman who reached first base with a one out walk in the seventh inning.

Winona ends the season at 12-12.
