W-K’s Ryan Wolfe named as a Finalist for Mr. Baseball Award

Wabasha-Kellogg High School shortstop/pitcher Ryan Wolfe is one of seven finalists for the “Play Ball” Minnesota Mr. Baseball Award. The award, which is sponsored by Minnesota Minutemen and the Minnesota Twins, is presented annually to the best baseball player in the state of Minnesota.

As a shortstop this year Wolfe batted .444 with 24 runs scored along with 10 stolen bases. As a pitcher, he finished the season with a 4-2 record and five saves. Wolfe struck out 50 batters in 45 1/3 innings and had an ERA of 2.16.

The award will be presented June 26 during a banquet at Target Field.

Wolfe, a recent graduate, will be attending Saint Mary’s University in Winona where he will play baseball next year.
