Minnesota Twins Caravan Visits Winona

Baseball fans know spring, and baseball, can’t be too far away when the Twins Winter Caravan comes to town.

Just over 200 of Winona’s Twins fans greeted the 2019 version of the caravan Wednesday night at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. This year’s annual Twins’ Baseball goodwill tour featured players Jake Cave and Tyler Austin, along with FOX Sports North TV broadcaster, Dick Bremer and Twins mascot, T.C. Bear.

During the event, fans young and old had the opportunity to ask questions of the players, win door prizes which included tickets to a Twins game at Target Field, and get some autographs.

This year’s Winona event was named the “Al Smith Memorial Caravan,” in tribute to Winona’s “Mr. Baseball”, Al Smith, who passed away last June. Smith had organized the annual meet and greet for baseball fans for as long as anyone can remember.

The caravan serves as a fundraiser for the Winona Chiefs Baseball Club.

Prior to meeting with fans Cave, Austin, and Bremer held a press conference with local media. You can watch the press conference by following this link: https://youtu.be/Ke6V14pfK60
