WSU Golfer Wins Minnesota Open
Incoming Winona State University Junior Brady Madsen made a little history this past weekend. Madsen won the 2019 Minnesota State Open at the Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove, MN. The tournament was held July 19-21.
Madsen carded a 13-under-par 203 in the 3-round tournament to capture the title. According to Winona State Men’s Golf Coach Jeff Straight, it is the first time a Winona State golfer has captured the title, and possibly the first-ever Division 2 golfer to win the crown.
Madsen birdied 6 holes in the final round, with just one bogey to shoot a 5-under-par 67 and finish one stroke ahead of Max Tylke for the championship.
Warrior graduating Senior Michael Schmitz finished tied for 6th place, with a 7-under-par for the tournament.
