Cannon Falls Blanks Wingers

Blame it on the full moon, on Friday the 13th. Or, just blame it on a team with too many weapons to counter. Either way, Cannon Falls earned a 60-0 win over the Red Wing Wingers.
The Bombers struck first with 7:57 remaining in the first quarter, when Kade Holt ran in a 25 yard score. Cannon Falls attempted a fake extra point, looking for a 2-point conversion, but the pass was short, and Cannon Falls led 6-0.
About 90 game seconds later, Jack Dommeyer recovered a Winger fumble, which set up a Trenton Matthies 43 yard TD scamper, and before you knew it, the Bombers were up 13-0.
Red Wing had problems stringing together a drive on offense. Not because they couldn’t make plays, but it seemed like every good play was followed by a penalty. The defense, though, did all they could to stop the Bomber assault. Red Wing held Cannon Falls on a 4th down play with 1:19 left in the first quarter.
However, the momentum could not be sustained. Mason Duden returned a punt block 44 yards for a score. 20-0 Cannon Falls.
Marcus Banks ran in a score from 13-yards out. 27-0 Cannon Falls.
19 game-seconds later, Kade Holt picked off a Henry Davig pass to give the ball back to the offense. 2 minutes later, Matthies scored his second TD of the game on a 3-yard run. 34-0.
With just over 90 seconds left in the half, Devin Sexton got in on the TD party, and sent the Bombers into the locker room with a 41-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same. Matthies hit paydirt once again in the third quarter, while Jake McAdam and Carson Hammel scored on runs of 5 and 70 yards, respectively.
Cannon Falls attempted just one pass the entire game.
Red Wing (0-3) will travel to Lake City (2-1), who is coming off an upset of Rochester Lourdes. Cannon Falls (3-0), will have a week off before meeting the Tigers in Lake City on September 27.
