Warriors Extend Win Streak With Win Over Eagles
Caledonia took control early thanks to their pair of Kings, in a 46-15 win over Dover-Eyota.
The Eagles actually had the ball first, but was forced to punt. It was then that the Warriors seized the game. Eli King took the punt 47 yards, into Eagle territory. Noah King then ran in a 34-yard touchdown to give Caledonia a 6-0 lead. Noah King, a quarterback, had just 4 rushing touchdowns all season long, coming into the game. He would add 5 to that total against the Eagles.
Eli King would get the next score, a 29-yard catch from Noah, capped by a 2-point conversion for a 14-0 lead after 1 quarter of play.
Noah King would score 3 touchdowns on the ground in the second quarter, on runs of 2, 7 and 45 yards.
Greg Gust would capitalize on one of the few Noah King mistakes in the game, with an interception with 2:18 to go in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles could not take advantage, and trailed 33-0 heading into the break.
Noah King would add another rushing touchdown to lead off the 3rd quarter, before being rested for the evening. King ended the night 6-of-11 passing for 84 yards and a TD. On the ground, he rushed 9 times for 108 yards, and those 5 touchdowns.
After King’s 5th score of the game, the Eagles got on the board. Blake Blattner took the kickoff 80 yards for a score, to make the game 40-7.
Isaiah Reinhardt, who came on in relief of King, called his own number for a 5 yard TD run with 6:22 left in the 3rd quarter.
The Eagles would have one last gasp, with a Brady Williams 57 yard run for a score with 22 seconds left in the game to produce a final score of 46-15.
The win gives Caledonia 60 consecutive wins. They are just the 31st team in United States High School Football history to win 60 or more consecutive games.
