Girls High School Basketball Section Tournament Tips Off

The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) girls high school basketball sectional tournament action begins this week! The opening quarterfinal round is Thursday night, February 27th with games set to be played in local gymnasiums across the state. HBC TV 25 Sports will be following our local and area teams as they vie for a state tournament bid.

With limited resources, HBC Sports is not able to cover all local teams in the tournament. Coverage is determined based on a team’s seeding. HBC Sports’ policy is to cover games of the highest seeded team.

This Thursday night, HBC Sports will be in Lake City for the Section 1AA match up between the number-2 seeded Tigers and the 15th seed Pine Island Panthers. HBC Sports will also be covering the number-4 seed Cotter Ramblers as they face number-13 La Crescent/Hokah in Winona at the John Nett Rec Center. Both games tip-off at 7:00 pm.

MSHSL rules prohibit HBC Sports from televising any playoff game live, but does allow for games to be recorded and televised on a delayed broadcast basis. You can watch the Lake City v. Pine Island game Saturday evening, February 22nd at 7:00 pm. The Cotter v. La Crescent/Hokah game will air Saturday evening, February 22nd at 9:00 pm. Both games will be on HBC TV 25/525.

HBC Sports coverage of the Section 1 girls basketball playoffs will resume Monday night, February 24th from the Mayo Civic Arena in Rochester.
