Winona, MN – Winona Volunteer Services presented HBC with the Metille Service Award at their annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. The Metille Service Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer or volunteer group that has made a significant contribution to their community through volunteerism.
“We are happy to be able to serve our community, and grateful for the recognition of our team’s hard work,” says Terri McManemy. “HBC has been very supportive of our efforts and encourages all of us to volunteer in our community.” McManemy is a mobile sales representative at HBC and coordinates the volunteers’ schedule. The team is comprised of 18 employees who rotate the noon meal deliveries.
The award was originally created in recognition of Chuck Metille for his dedication & outstanding service to the Home Delivered Meals Program. HBC’s Home Delivered Meals route is the largest in Winona, servicing Winhaven Court.
The Metille Service Award is recognition of excellence by the recipient’s peers. The criteria for this award include the demonstration of a positive, dedicated attitude, and outstanding representation of Volunteer Services’ mission and values. Nominees demonstrate the impact volunteers can have on the improvement of their community through commitment and service through volunteering.

HBC’s roots are in a non-profit project begun in 1993, called Luminet. Luminet connected Winona education, healthcare and government institutions to extend the reach of teaching and learning.
