Building a fiber-optic network takes months of planning—from network design and ordering of equipment to locating utilities and actual construction, there is a great deal of work to be done before we can connect your home to HBC fiber services.

Rest assured, our team is committed to working efficiently and ensuring the work is done right the first time around. Our goal is to keep you informed as we move through the process and get your home connected as quickly as possible.

Ready to sign up for HBC service? Click “Live Chat” in the bottom right corner to chat with us online, call us at (888) 474-9995, or stop by your local HBC office.

To connect your home to HBC services, a fiber-optic line (“drop”) is required and can be buried to your home while we are constructing the network. This will be done at no additional cost to you and will prepare your home to receive HBC services as soon as construction is complete.

During the colder months, a temporary drop can be installed to bring services to your home and will be buried in the spring when ground conditions allow.

Once boring and fiber drops are completed, crews will work to restore any mild lawn disturbances by smoothing out the soil and adding grass seed.

2025 Construction Progress Updates

12/22/25

We’re excited to share some great news to close out the year in Empire!

PONs T & V (Cabrilla Way)—Services were officially released on December 17, and residents in these areas can now get connected with Flight Fiber Internet. If you haven’t signed up yet, now’s the perfect time to give us a call and get your installation on the schedule.

This will be our final Empire construction update for 2025. Thank you to everyone in the community for your patience and support throughout the build. Wishing you a safe, happy, and memorable holiday season—we look forward to serving you with Flight Fiber Internet in the new year!

Progress continues in Empire as crews wrap up the final steps of the build.

PONs T & V (Cabrilla Way)—All splicing and testing are complete, with services expected to be released as early as tomorrow, December 17th. If you’re in this area, now’s a great time to give us a call and get on the installation schedule—Flight Fiber Internet is right around the corner!

There’s exciting progress in Empire this week as both project areas move into the final stages of the build.

PONs T & V (Cabrilla Way)—Splicing, activation, and testing are now underway in both areas. Crews are targeting a service release during the week of December 15. If you’re located in one of these areas, now’s a great time to reach out and get on the schedule—be among the first in your neighborhood to enjoy Flight Fiber Internet service.

11/25/25

Work continues to move along nicely in Empire this week, with both project areas checking off key milestones right on time.

PON T—Splicing begins today (November 25) and is right on schedule. This marks an exciting step toward getting the area ready for upcoming installations.

PON V—On Cabrilla Way, crews began setting structures and pulling fiber yesterday (November 24), and this phase is expected to be wrapped up by Thanksgiving. Everything is trending in the right direction for this PON as it moves into the next stage.

Both areas remain on track for a mid-December service release, and we’re thrilled to see such steady progress as the season winds down. Wishing everyone working out in Empire—and all our neighbors in these project areas—a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with warmth, good food, and time with family and friends.

11/20/25

Progress continues at a steady pace in Empire, with both project areas moving closer to the finish line.

PON T—Splicing is scheduled to begin the week of November 24, marking the next major step toward preparing this area for installations.

PON V—On Cabrilla Way, drilling is on track to wrap up by November 21. Once that’s complete, crews will begin setting structures and pulling fiber. Splicing for this PON will start after work wraps up in PON T.

Splicing and testing are targeted for completion in both PONs by December 15, with installation availability to follow shortly after.

11/11/25

Crews are making great strides in Empire as progress continues on multiple fronts ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

PON T—Good news—work is moving along quicker than expected! Fiber pulling is already underway, ahead of the original December schedule.

PON V—On Cabrilla Way, roughly 1,100 feet of duct was placed last week, and drilling is expected to wrap up in about two weeks. Once all structures are set, crews will begin pulling fiber through.

Construction in both areas is on track to be completed by Thanksgiving, with splicing scheduled to begin the week of December 1.

11/05/25

Things are moving along in Empire as crews work through the final stages of this season’s projects.

PON T—Drilling and construction are complete. Crews will be pulling fiber the week of December 1, followed by splicing shortly after.

PON V—On Cabrilla Way, work kicked off the week of November 3. Crews are expecting tougher ground conditions—lots of rock and cobble in the area—so progress may move a bit slower than usual. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we keep things moving forward.

PON V—Work along Cabrilla Way is set to begin the week of November 3.

Both areas are targeted to have fiber in place by Thanksgiving, with splicing scheduled to begin the week of December 1.

Bit by bit, we’re bringing Flight Fiber closer to homes across Empire—just in time for the holidays!
