Fiber-Optic Network Construction

Building a fiber-optic network takes months of planning—from network design and ordering of equipment to locating utilities and actual construction, there is a great deal of work to be done before we can connect your home to HBC fiber services.

Rest assured, our team is committed to working efficiently and ensuring the work is done right the first time around. Our goal is to keep you informed as we move through the process and get your home connected as quickly as possible.

Ready to sign up for HBC service? Click the Order Now button to sign up online, call us at (888) 474-9995, or stop by our local Hastings office 1775 Market Blvd.

To connect your home to HBC services, a fiber-optic line (“drop”) is required and can be buried to your home while we are constructing the network. This will be done at no additional cost to you and will prepare your home to receive HBC services as soon as construction is complete.

During the colder months, a temporary drop can be installed to bring services to your home and will be buried in the spring when ground conditions allow.

Once boring and fiber drops are completed, crews will work to restore any mild lawn disturbances by smoothing out the soil and adding grass seed.

2026 Construction Progress Updates

03/16/26

With winter still reminding us who’s in charge, our crews are adjusting schedules slightly as we prepare to resume construction activity in Hastings.

PON T—Aerial construction is now expected to begin Wednesday, March 18, following a brief delay due to recent weather conditions. Underground construction remains scheduled to start May 1 as we continue expanding Flight Fiber Internet access in the area.

If you live in a neighborhood where fiber service is already available and haven’t connected yet, this is a great opportunity to reach out and get your installation scheduled. With 5-year price guarantees available across all Internet tiers, it’s a great time to make the switch.
