Building a fiber-optic network takes months of planning—from network design and ordering of equipment to locating utilities and actual construction, there is a great deal of work to be done before we can connect your home to HBC fiber services.

Ready to sign up for HBC service? Click “Live Chat” in the bottom right corner to chat with us online, call us at (888) 474-9995, or stop by your local HBC office.

To connect your home to HBC services, a fiber-optic line (“drop”) is required and can be buried to your home while we are constructing the network. This will be done at no additional cost to you and will prepare your home to receive HBC services as soon as construction is complete.

During the colder months, a temporary drop can be installed to bring services to your home and will be buried in the spring when ground conditions allow.

Once boring and fiber drops are completed, crews will work to restore any mild lawn disturbances by smoothing out the soil and adding grass seed.

2026 Construction Progress Updates

01/20/26

Crews remain active in Winona this week, with work continuing in one area and fiber service already live in many others.

PON 37—Two crews are still hard at work on aerial construction, and progress continues to move in the right direction. Service availability is still expected toward the end of January or early February.

PONs 23, 11, 3, 16, 15, 9, 10, 21, and 22—These areas are live and ready for Flight Fiber Internet service. If you haven’t signed up yet or have questions about getting started, our team is ready to help.

PON 37—Two crews are currently working on aerial construction in this area. Progress is moving along well, and services are still targeted to be ready toward the end of January or early February.

We’re kicking off 2026 with some great momentum in Winona—thanks for being part of a strong start to the new year!

PONs 23, 11, 3, 16, 15, 9, 10, 21, and 22—Flight Fiber Internet service is now available in all of these areas, with PON 22 newly released as of December 31. If you’re in one of these neighborhoods and haven’t connected yet, now’s a great time to give us a call and get your installation on the schedule.

Current customers who haven’t yet transitioned to fiber may need to reach out to HBC to complete their complimentary fiber upgrade. The process is quick and easy, and our team is happy to help make the switch. Customers eligible for fiber upgrades are being notified directly via text message and email.

PON 37—Work in this area began yesterday (January 5). Crews are moving forward with construction, and services are currently anticipated to be ready toward the end of January or early February, depending on progress and conditions.

Looking ahead to 2026, construction is planned in PONs 6, 7, and 49, with more details to be shared as work gets underway.
