A drop is a line that runs from HBC’s pedestal to your home to receive service. Sometimes they are aerial but usually, they are buried underground. A temporary drop usually needs to be installed first while the permanent one waits to get buried.
We work with local utility companies to identify water, gas, and electric lines that are already in your yard. They mark them with painted lines and flags to help our burial crew determine where they’ll bury the line.
If you have questions about your temporary drop, please fill out the Email Us contact form at hbci.com/email-us and choose “Burying Lines/Drops” from the category list (average response time for an inquiry is 2–3 business days) or contact Customer Care at (888) 474-9995.
