Parental Controls allow you to restrict viewing and purchases of TV programs based on your preferences. Set a personalized 4-digit PIN to place locks on selected movie and TV ratings, TV content ratings, channels, and titles. You can also hide adult titles from displaying on the screen.
When Parental Controls are enabled, programs that violate the parental controls display a lock icon in the info screen and require the Locks PIN to watch the program. You will need to set up a 4-digit Locks PIN the first time you enter the Parental Controls screen.
Enable and Disable Parental Controls
To enable parental controls:
- Select the lock icon from the Quick Menu or Parental Controls from the Main Menu.
- If you have not already created a PIN, create your new 4 digit PIN code. You will need to enter it a second time to confirm. If you already have a PIN, enter it when asked.
- Select the type of lock you want to enable.
- Press the EXIT X button to exit from the Parental Controls screen.
To temporarily or permanently disable parental controls:
- Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN to access the Parental Controls screen.
- Select Master Locks.
- There are two options for disabling Parental Controls. Select whether you want to temporarily bypass all locks or remove all previously set locks by pressing the right arrow button on your remote to confirm your choice.
To manually re-enable parental controls:
- Press the MENU button on the remote and select Parental Controls.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN to access the Parental Controls screen.
- Select Master Locks.
- Select the bypass locks option and then press the right arrow button on your remote to change the option to No and confirm your choice.
Movie, TV, and Content Ratings
Movie Rating
This will block all movies rated at a particular level or higher.
- G—General Audience
- PG—Parental Guidance Suggested
- PG-13—Parents Strongly Cautioned
- R—Restricted
- AO—Adult Only (X, XX, XXX)

TV Rating
This will block all TV programs rated at a particular level or higher.
- TV-Y—All Children
- TV Y7—Directed To Older Children
- TV-14—Parents Strongly Cautioned
- TV-G—General Audience
- TV-PG—Parental Guidance Suggested
- TV-MA—Mature Audience Only

Content Rating
Select the TV content ratings you want to be blocked.
- S—Sexual Situations
- D—Suggestive Dialog
- V—Violence
- L—Language
- F—Fantasy Violence

Parental Control Options
Movie Rating Locks
Movie Rating Locks allow you to block movies with a particular MPAA rating. For example, selecting R rated content will block all R, NC-17, and Adult rated movies.
TV Rating Locks
TV Rating Locks allow you to block TV programs with a particular TV rating. For example, selecting TV-14 will block all programs rated with TV-14 or TV-MA.
TV Content Locks
Content Rating Locks allows you to block TV programs with particular content, regardless of the TV rating. For example, if you block TV-14 and TV-MA ratings, as well as V (violence) content, a program rated at TV-PG V will still be blocked.
Channel Locks
You can lock certain channels so they cannot be watched without the Locks PIN regardless of the ratings of the programs on the channel. Select the Channel Locks option in the Parental Controls screen and select the channels you wish to block.
Title Locks
Title Locks allow you to block programs with a particular title.
Service Locks
Service Locks allow you to block Video-on-Demand service (currently not available).
Hide Locks
You can hide titles of Adult and TV-MA programs from appearing in the Guide. Select the Hide Titles option in the Parental Controls screen. You can select to block titles for only Adult programs, Adult and TV-MA programs, or to not hide any titles.
Master Locks
The Master Locks screen allows you to temporarily bypass all locks, or to remove all locks.
PINs Setup
The Locks PIN screen allows you to clear your current Locks PIN. You can also tell the system to lock all programs in the event of a power outage until the program ratings and titles are restored in the guide.
