HBC+ Video Upgrade FAQs

HBC+ Video is an app-based way to watch live TV on your TV, tablet, computer, or smartphone. Learn more.

HBC+ Video uses an app and a compatible device like a TV, tablet, computer, smartphone, or streaming device, and delivers the content to your device using your home’s WiFi. Cable TV is delivered directly to your TV using wired cable line and set-top box for each TV.

The manufacturer of our Amino set-top boxes has discontinued support and as a result, we will be transitioning all HBC fiber TV customers with Amino set-top boxes to HBC+ Video. However, you can continue to watch all the channels you enjoy on traditional cable TV with your HBC TV subscription through the HBC+ Video app.

In most cases, there will be no change to your bill. In fact, by eliminating the need for set-top boxes with HBC+, you may even save money! HBC is committed to working with our customers to ensure you are provided with options and receiving the full value of the services you are paying for. Before making the switch, we recommend reviewing pricing and plans with an HBC representative. They can provide you with a clear understanding of how your bill might be impacted and offer options to ensure a smooth transition.

You can watch on a range of devices including Android™ mobile, Android TV™, Apple TV®, Fire TV Stick, iPad®, iPhone®, Mac® and PC computers, Roku®, phones, tablets, and more. You can also watch with our Pontis SmartBox 4k (Android TV). This tiny box connects to your TV and allows you to watch HBC programming and connects effortlessly with other streaming services.

Once HBC+ Video has been activated on your HBC account, you can download the app to the device(s) of your choice, login, and begin watching.

HBC+ Video allows you to watch subscribed TV content within your home using your HBC Internet. HBC TV2-Go allows you watch subscribed TV content by downloading apps from your favorite networks to watch their content anywhere you have a WiFi connection.

The app is for in-home viewing over your HBC Internet only.

The channels you receive depend on the tier of HBC TV service you subscribe to. View your community’s channel lineup here.

Customers will not be able to transfer their DVR recordings over to HBC+ Video. Since your current recordings reside on your DVR (a physical piece of equipment) and HBC+ Video uses cloud DVR (Internet-based), there is no way to transfer them. During the transition period, we recommend you take note of all shows and series recordings you have setup on your current system. As you begin with the new system, use your list to setup new recordings in HBC+ Video.

Unlike a DVR set-top box where your recordings are stored on the DVR, cloud DVR stores your content in a “cloud” and does not require you to keep any physical hardware in your home. One unique feature of cloud DVR is you can access and manage your content from any device using the HBC+ Video app. Start a program in the living room and resume in another room in your home. At work and forget to schedule tonight’s recording of your favorite show? No problem! Open the app and schedule it. HBC+ Video saves and stores your content in the cloud for up to 90 days.

100 hours of cloud DVR, 4 concurrent streams, access on up to 10 devices, and the channel lineup you subscribe to.

DVR hours are shared across your account. Recorded content saved to the cloud can be watched on any compatible device. As you watch and delete recorded shows and series, you will free up space in the cloud. It’s hard to exceed 100 hours of storage, but if you need more, upgrade options are available.
